Ultherapy: Tighten Sagging Facial Skin Without Surgery

Ultherapy is a noninvasive treatment that uses ultrasound technology to tighten and bring smoothness to sagging skin. It provides a useful and effective alternative to surgical cosmetic procedures, such as facelifts, by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production process.

If you don’t look as young or vibrant as you used to in photos, but surgery seems more drastic than you’d like, Ultherapy can be a great option. The noninvasive treatment treats sagging skin in an office setting, taking less time and bringing fewer risks compared to surgical alternatives. We love providing Ultherapy to our patients.

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is basically a noninvasive, nonsurgical facelift. FDA-cleared to lift skin on your neck, eyebrow, and chin areas, it improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leading to a more youthful appearance. It can also help tighten sagging skin in the chest area.

How Ultherapy works

Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology, which has been used for over 50 years throughout the medical field. Traditional ultrasound imaging allows your treatment professional to see layers of tissue during the procedure, which helps ensure that the best amount of energy is delivered right where you need it. This energy stimulates a natural response under your skin, kickstarting regeneration and causing natural collagen production.

Ultherapy brings a host of benefits, including:

Ideal Ultherapy candidates

The best Ultherapy candidates have mild to moderate skin laxity, or areas in which your skin has begun to appear and feel less firm. People who want to avoid surgery or can’t have surgery for any reason, yet still want a more youthful appearance, can also make great candidates.

What you’ll experience during an Ultherapy treatment

Your first step in getting started with Ultherapy will be a consultation with your treatment provider to make sure you’re a good candidate. You’ll go over the state of your skin as well as your desired results. Treatment itself starts with cleansing of your skin.

Your treatment professional applies ultrasound gel to specific areas of your skin. Using the treatment applicator, they’ll use Ultherapy’s ultrasound to look deep below your skin’s surface. As ultrasound energy is delivered, and you’ll feel it — but the sensation is brief and usually well-tolerated. Treatment takes about 60-90 minutes for a face-and-neck treatment, or 30 minutes for the chest.

What happens after Ultherapy treatment

After treatment, your skin may appear a bit flushed, but any redness should alleviate on its own within several hours. Other potential side effects may include mild bruising, numbness, swelling, tenderness, or tingling in the treatment area. All of these symptoms tend to be temporary. Regardless, you should be able to go straight back to your usual activities.

When you’ll see maximum results

Results from Ultherapy appear gradually following treatment. While some people notice immediate benefits, the most results appear within three months as your body produces collagen. This is what lifts and tightens your skin, creating more smoothness.

Full benefits last varying amounts of time, depending on your skin’s collagen production and the natural aging process. You can have additional treatments as needed or desired, including occasional touch-ups.
